Imagine Breaker Permission Post

Imagine Breaker is an ability that negates anything supernatural. Since I don't want to accidentally God-Mode anyone, here are some of the things Imagine Breaker can cause that I think would trouble other players.

• Touma's right hand, Imagine Breaker, inflicts subconscious fear upon any nearby supernatural beings. This will manifest as a gut instinct that will warn you to keep your distance. The same kind of feeling you'll probably get when standing at the very edge of a cliff. Your character can tune it out if you wish.

• The very reason supernatural beings feel uneasy near Touma is because Imagine Breaker can potentially kill them with one touch. Now if you feel Imagine Breaker's limited range and the forewarning they get from being near it isn't enough I'm willing to downscale it. Just let me know.

• Supernatural items are not safe from Imagine Breaker either. Unless you're fine with Touma ruining your character's toys, I'm going to limit this to it just being temporally nullified. I know there are some characters that have special items that are irreplaceable and having them permanently destroyed would be quite terrible.

Basically: I'm down with all these effects for Imagine Breaker. Things of that nature do exist in a certain capacity in his canon, so Tristan would be wary the moment he gets close to that hand. I'm also down with nullifying (but not destroying) his supernatural items—though for the most part that amounts to his harp.

Sasuke's darkness crow familiar probably fits in line with being supernatural. He can caw and show obvious distress. Sasuke himself is aligned with darkness and has some darkness powers. I don't think that would cause him to be supernatural, but his crow panicking will be enough for him to worry.

As long as nothing happens to Mr. Tori, I'm okay with this feeling occurring!

Magolor is an alien species and not a "supernatural creature" in the sense of something like a demon or angel or spirit—but at the same time, there's literally no way to explain how his body works without magic, since he can only move by floating and his hands hover in orbit around his body. I'm up for playing with this however we both think is fun! I personally think it would be hilarious if physical contact didn't kill Magolor, but immobilized him and made him unable to control his hands. But if that doesn't sound fun or match up well with canon, I'm also good with the touch either having no effect or killing Magolor (though obvs if we decide on that I'll just have him avoid touching Touma, haha). It's not like Magolor's being Something Weird isn't obvious enough that Touma would presumably warn him, and since Magolor is a wizard even if he's not a supernatural creature, he may or may not also feel the unease anyway.

This does sound hilarious! I like it! And yeah, given how obviously weird looking he is, Touma would go out his way to not touch him and warn him about it if they meet in person. Especially given how important physical contact is in this world.

As for Magolor feeling unease, being a wizard alone wouldn't really trigger the effect (otherwise a massive chunk of his canon would feel it as well), but I do think it would funny for someone as powerful as him to look at this 'Normal High School Student ^TM' and think 'danger'.

I'm totally up for "he maybe feels a little uneasy about this guy because of his magic being necessary to make his body work right" if that sounds compliant enough! It's hilarious either way tbh. Since Magolor is pretty pushy and also thoughtless about physical contact on this world because he wants to make that money, and knows he isn't a supernatural creature, he's bound for at least one crashing to the ground and dropping his hands incident!

Hi there! I had imagined that I had already replied here and then saw it half replied to in a tab, good job brain.

Following in vein of Magolor's players musings, she is an alien which isn't inherently supernatural, but, the complication of her actual magic and powers is something else entirely. She likely would be able to sense that something's potentially concerning about his presence, but probably wouldn't think much further on the implications unless something happened.

To that effect, maybe due to interference from the world itself, (or to apply to our current thread), maybe there's a light delay in activation, and it would potentially feel like the way it does when characters get thrown into the jail here, like a sudden dampening depending on the nature of contact? Granted that doesn't feel particularly good. Not in an "I'm dying" way but a more claustrophobic "I'm trapped??" way.

editing because i'm overthinking myself into stupid levels: i am also okay with nothing happening or such a thing being hit or miss whether or not it does happen? So it's like a random chance of happening. If that makes sense!

Sorry this took me forever to answer. Real Life has not been kind to me.

I don't think Imagine Breaker would harm her and at worst would simply negate her magical abilities on contact. She doesn't seem to rely on it to live or function. That being said, she could potentially sense something concerning about him, but it wouldn't be because of Imagine Breaker. Instead, it would be because of these cuties living inside him.

And that sounds good to me! And I guess more clarification on what you mean by "concerning" might help; would it just seem like he may contain some kind of powerful energy?

I actually wasn't sure how to answer your question so I started skimming through his canon. I always viewed the Dragons/Invisible Thing as an entity, but apparently they were described as a 'great swirl of power' in their second canon appearance (third going by in-universe timeline). Here's a quote from the book.

The great swirl of power compressing toward that boy’s shoulder felt so threatening that it seemed to suck the color out of everything Fiamma had obtained.

He was still hanging his head down so his expression could not be seen.

It seemed that not just Imagine Breaker resided in that boy’s body. Just the ability to negate supernatural powers was not enough to shake Fiamma’s heart that greatly and to put him on his guard to that extent. Even then, he felt a painful illusion on his skin. He felt a deeply resounding shock in the bottom of his gut like large fireworks were going off nearby. That shock was similar to an invisible wall.

Oh wow! I appreciate you looking that up for me! A lot of loaded language was involved, which was why I had asked, so this definitely helps a lot for perspective on why that is.

(I know how hard it can be to shake explanations out of canon references if any are even given at all, especially for working out how it comes across in these sorts of cross-canon situations!)
